Summary:

Neural Networks are excellent as patterns recognition; it helps us to manage big data volumes and distributed them for an easier interpretation. So they are essential in many kind of applications, this master ́s work tries to use the potential of this networks in a portable device, in this case a FPGA.

The Artificial Neural Network designed in this work y capable of identify six different palm races, which are natural of Costa Rica. These Palms are the Pejibaye. The network uses DNA fragments to do this qualifying.

In addition of, this neural network has been designed in a portable device called FPGA. It has been used a Xilinx Software called System Generator for this design. Xilinx System Generator works with Matlab, concretely with Simulink.
