Biography
Ivan A. Pérez-Álvarez is Telecom Engineer (six year degree) and Dr. Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) in 1990 and 2000, respectively. From 1989 to 1997 he was in Europea de Comunicaciones S.A. (1 year) and Telefónica Sistemas S.A., where he was a member staff of Digital Signal Processing Group in the Special Projects Department. He was involved in the design of HF/VHF/UHF digital communications systems for the Spanish Ministry of Defense.
He joined the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain) as an Associate Professor in 1998. Since 2006 he was Head of Technological Centre for Innovations in Communications until 2010 and at the present is the vice-director of Institute for Technological Development and Innovation in Communications (IDeTIC). His main research activities are in the field of Signal Processing for Radio Communications.
